UGGC & Associés advises CM-CIC Capital Privé and SGAM for their Private Equity investment in Attitude Studio
The “FCPIs” (high-tech mutual funds) and “FIPs” (proximity investment funds) managed by CM-CIC Capital Privé, together with the “FCPIs” managed by SGAM AI, long standing shareholders of the company, have invested EUR 3 million into the capital of Attitude Studio. Thanks to this operation, it has also been possible to acquire the interest held until now by CPR Private Equity.

Attitude Studio, created in 2000 and based in Plaine Saint-Denis, is currently considered as one of the most important 3D animation studios in Europe. The company generates EUR 15 million in turnover, based on a revolutionary production line and innovative technology enabling it to deal with all types of animation and rendering. In particular, they have a 3,700 m² shooting studio, one of a kind in Europe, where they can use “motion capture”, a technique consisting in reproducing body movements with sensors placed on actors and infrared cameras.

With a presence dating back 5 years on the US market of video games with productions such as “Lara Croft” and “Terminator 3”, Attitude Studio is currently holding discussions with two large US “majors” to start making feature-length animated movies.

In 2005, a significant development occurred, with the company bringing out their first feature length movie, “Renaissance”, a neo-futuristic thriller produced by Onyx Films and distributed by Miramax and Pathé, due to be released in March 2006, as well as the first two episodes of “Skyland”, an animated 3D series broadcasted in over 60 countries, and several film-based video games such as “Getting up” for Atari, “Fifty cents” for Vivendi and “King Kong” for Ubisoft.

This transaction was supervised by Stéphane Pesqué for CM-CIC Capital Privé, by Mathieu de La Rochefoucauld for SGAM AI Private Equity and by Boris Hertzog, Sandrine Nguyen and Marc Miance for Attitude Studio.

Pascal Squercioni and Malak Tazi, of UGGC & Associés law firm, were in charge of all legal aspects of this transaction for CM-CIC Capital Privé and SGAM AI.
