Danielle is a member of the Cameroon and Nigeria Bars and the American Bar Association.
She has a degree in business law and is an experienced business lawyer. She has completed qualifying professional training with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI). She received professional training in Artificial Intelligence, Financial Technology and LegalTech in Japan, in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence for Lawyers at Harvard University – USA and in Fintech Revolution at the University of Pennsylvania – Wharton, USA.
Danielle specializes in OHADA corporate law, Financial Technology ( FinTech) law and the digitization of financial services, with a focus on legal advice and regulatory compliance on payment services and marketplace lending, artificial intelligence applied to financial services, data protection, crypto-currencies, Blockchain and other technologies delivered across financial business services.
She has acted as lead counsel in a wide range of major cases for the leading law firms she has worked with in Cameroon, Nigeria and South Africa.
She advises local and foreign clients on mergers and acquisitions and transactions of groundbreaking FinTechs in Central Africa, including Banks, renowned Fintechs and start-ups providing solutions that are transforming payment services in Africa and the rest of the world. It helps to establish the best business model for their financial services in the CEMAC zone, and represents them in dealings with the regulatory authorities.
She has in-depth knowledge of the sector and advises investors, institutional clients and companies on the implementation of their projects in the OHADA zone.
She is a leading lawyer ranked by the most reputable international legal guides such as The Legal500, Who’s Who Legal (FinTech), and Chambers and Partners. In 2021, she was the only Fintech lawyer in the Who’s Who Legal ranking for Central Africa and the only woman in the Chambers Global Top Business Lawyers ranking for Cameroon.
She is an expert speaker at major technology events in Africa, Europe, Asia and America. She has worked on several technology law projects in Africa, and is a regular contributor to legal journals. She has co-authored several articles, including Loi pour les fintech dans la zone CEMAC: une avancée juridique historique, published by the Internal Bar Association and Lex Africa in 2019, as well as on the official OHADA website, andOverview of data protection in Cameroon, published by One Trust Data Guidance.
She is an accredited World Bank consultant and lecturer at the University of Abomey-Calavi in the Republic of Benin.
