Paris, September 6, 2024 - UGGC Avocats strengthens its environmental law expertise with the arrival of Carine Le Roy-Gleizes and Corentin Chevallier as partners.
UGGC Avocats creates an environmental law department with the addition of two renowned experts.
Carine Le Roy-Gleizes, a leading figure in environmental law, joins UGGC Avocats from Winston & Strawn and Foley Hoag, where she was partner and head of the environmental practice. With a wealth of experience spanning more than twenty years, she advises French and international companies as well as public entities on complex issues of regulatory compliance, litigation management and environmental strategy. Her expertise covers a wide range of fields, from project support (industrial, mining/extractive, decarbonization, renewable energies), implementation of industrial environmental law (ICPE), water law, waste law, management and reconversion of polluted sites and soils, and biodiversity issues.
Very active in the field of ecological and energy transition, Carine Le Roy-Gleizes regularly contributes to discussions on the evolution of environmental law, notably within the Medef working group, and took part in drafting the white paper “40 propositions pour moderniser et simplifier le droit de l’environnement” (“40 proposals to modernize and simplify environmental law”). She teaches at the Centre de Formation de Droit de l’Environnement, BRGM and the École des Mines de Douai, and is a member of several scientific committees and think tanks. Her expertise is particularly recognized by leading French and Anglo-Saxon guides (Chambers, Legal 500, Best Lawyers, Décideurs).
Corentin Chevallier has also practiced environmental law at the highest level for over 20 years. Having worked with some of the best names in the field (Boivin et associés, Winston & Strawn), he created and developed the environmental practice at Foley Hoag with Carine Le Roy-Gleizes as partner. He has developed particular expertise in mining and extractive activities, air quality and climate mitigation and adaptation issues, and advises several operators in the energy and ecological transition sectors. He also advises private and public-sector clients on standard environmental issues (classified installations for environmental protection, waste, water, biodiversity), particularly in relation to infrastructure projects.
He also handles environmental litigation and administrative, civil and criminal liability issues for industrial operators, reinforcing the firm’s offering in environmental risk management and regulatory compliance.
Corentin Chevallier is a member of several scientific committees on environmental matters, a member of the Fédération interprofessionnelle des métiers de l’environnement atmosphérique (FIMEA), publishes articles (BDEI, …) and regularly organizes webinars on his preferred subjects.
The appointment of Carine Le Roy-Gleizes and Corentin Chevallier to UGGC Avocats reinforces the firm’s commitment to providing strategic and innovative support in environmental and energy transition matters.
A strategic reinforcement for UGGC Avocats
The arrival of Carine Le Roy-Gleizes and Corentin Chevallier, along with their team, is in line with UGGC Avocats’ development strategy, which aims to add a team of practitioners in the field of environmental law and energy transition to serve clients of the firm and its various practice groups.
